I was uneasy when I saw the box hanging inside a shopping bag on the lid of my rural mail box. When I was walking back to the house, I rolled the box over to look at the labels, and something was rattling around loose, inside. "This can't be good," I thought...

I opened the package, and removed the barometer from its cardboard box, and it rattled again. I opened the bezel and found the airtight diaphragm chamber loose, inside. A bit of looking showed where it had been attached, and there was still a small amount of sticky adhesive in evidence.

I re-stuck the chamber to the back of the instrument face, aligning it with some lugs where the diaphragm could move the needle, and the needle responded appropriately. I set the pressure using the adjustment screw on the back, according to a nearby NWS station, and hung the instrument on the wall. We are under a stable ridge of high pressure, so there probably won't be much change to measure for a few days.

The construction quality and materials certainly didn't suggest it was worth the discount price, let alone the retail price, but I might not have thought much about that if it'd had enough adhesive applied to keep the major component from falling off in shipping.

There was nothing wrong with the packaging, by the way, Amazon. The air pillows kept the instrument from moving around much in the box, but the chamber must have been just barely attached to the inside when it was made.

I'll be pleased if it works, but I'll probably steer clear of Weems & Plath products, from now on, unless I can hold them in my hand before buying.

You can spend more for a case of this quality, but I'm glad I didn't have to. One of the few times Amazon didn't offer the best price - I found one for $37.99 at another online dealer.

Outside cover is heavy canvas, with a pretty dense weave. Should resist tearing really well. Good thick leather on the cap, butt, and carry handles. Inside is lined with thick fleece, lots of padding there. Velcro securing strap and buttstock pocket are nice touches - rifle won't flop around once secured.

Fits an unscoped Ruger Mini-14/Mini-30 like a glove. Maybe a half-inch to spare. Measure carefully - anything longer than 38" will probably not fit. Zippered side pocket is handy, but offers only enough storage for a few small items. Looks good, a classic design that never fails.

They did cut a few corners, though. The outside is all single-stitched, but looks stout enough to hold up. The "Heavy-Duty" zipper is a single-pull design running on nylon teeth. Not exactly top-of-the-line, but it seems sturdy enough to do the job. Pull handle glides easily. Really not much to complain about. A decent case at a decent price - just what I was looking for.

I'm a nurse and very particular about my shoes. My dept. changed to black and brown uniforms, and in looking for a shoe to match is how I found ASICS. What a wonderful coincedence that was! They feel great from the start,don't make your feet feel hot, and my feet never hurt after work. I did add inserts per a podiatrist for my very high arches, but wore them for months before this with great comfort. Now when I try on another brand I can't seem to adjust. I'm spoiled for ASICS!

Pearl Izumi Men's Fly Intercool Long Sleeve Shirt, Safety Orange, X-Large Review

I am a fan of Pearl Izumi tops. This one is quite pricey for what you get. It is 100% Polyester, no nylon in it. Pretty standard design with no pockets and zip front. Great for wearing in warm weather for sun protection. But gotta be honest, this shirt should be $40 tops. My biking jersey Attack longsleeve has way more design features and quite a bit less. I am 6'0", 185# and Large is perfect.
