In theory, you can substitute a perfect wheel to adjust your stand. But I have tried both and there is no hesitation in saying the Centering Gauge is superior. With this centering gauge, the accuracy of your Truing Stand can be so good that it would not be necessary to purchase a separate Dish Gauge to check your wheel alignment.
