My husband is a tour guide; and we purchased this item so he could be heard by groups of 25-40 people. The Voice Blaster was helpful, but it was NOT as loud as we had hoped. Maybe if he yelled (like a coach), it would have been louder. But, if you speak in a regular voice, or have a soft voice, it's still going to be a little difficult for others to hear you when you are outside in a crowd or if they are too far away. In any case, we still really like the device and his last tour was much better because his participants could definitely hear him more clearly when he was using the Voice Blaster. I would recommend this product if you need some voice amplification. However, I would make one modification (which we did): the head gear (headset microphone holder) was uncomfortable. So, we removed the microphone from the headset and he held it in one hand as he was speaking to the group. One thing you must note is that YOU MUST SPEAK INTO THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE MICROPHONE. So, you should take off the foam cover and test the microphone to see which side works the best (it's the silver screen side). Once you know that, you should mark that side of the pole and you can cover the microphone again with the foam cover (which blocks wind noise). If you are not speaking directly into the silver-screened side, your voice will be muffled or won't be as loud as desired.
