The downside, the soles last no longer than the vulcanized norm - Vans, etc. But the cushioning and the incredible durability of the uppers MORE than makes up for it. I can't believe how well they've held up to ollies that have quickly shredded all the other skate shoes I've owned.

And even though the soles wear at a normal pace, they stay pretty grippy (again, as opposed to Vans, etc). So there's another plus in my book.
