Running shorts without the boxer brief risks the potential of chafing. The Brooks Infiniti Notch Short II eliminates that problem with a comfortably fitting, lightweight, breathable boxer brief 2-in-1.

The outer short is the perfect length for long distances, causing virtually no resistance and allowing free movement. As a man with large thighs, I appreciate the fact that these shorts never cling or bunch (5" inseam). An additional not-so-small benefit for those of us who start runs at the wee hours of the A.M. is the 360 degree reflective Scotchlite trimming. The elastic waist provides very minimal security; the drawstring is necessary 100% of the time.

As for the internal boxer brief, it's not quite spandex and not loose either (4.5" inseam). I believe the term is "semi-fitted." What I call it is perfection. Some sort of voodoo prevents it from ever bunching up in the groin area. The mesh construction is where the genius comes into play, as all the sweat and moisture just seems to disappear while the air flows freely.

The one negative I have for the shorts is that I would prefer larger holster pockets. Two gel packets fit comfortably in each pocket, but stuff in three packets and the velcro might not reach. So, in other words, perfect for a mortal running a half-marathon, maybe a stretch for the average marathon runner who needs multiple refueling opportunities.

Overall, the best running short I've ever worn. I bought one pair, loved them so much, bought 5 more pair. Worth every cent.
