Product Description
Riding through harsh winters teaches you many lessons -- some are introspective, some are life changing, and some are just common sense that we've all managed to ignore. One such lesson is that of protecting your hands at all times. Numb fingers are not only painful, but given that we rely on the phalanges to brake, they're also downright dangerous. This is why a dependable pair of gloves are necessary when the mercury drops, a pair of gloves like the Castelli CW 3.0 Gloves. To insulate your hands in the chillier months, Castelli constructed the bulk of the gloves from the patented Thinsulate 100 material. Essentially, this fabric works by trapping the radiant and conductive heat from the body between the fabric lining and the hand. And because Thinsulate 100 is a specially-engineered microfiber (less than one denier), it's more effective at trapping large pockets of air in less space than other synthetics. Accordingly, this 'thinner' system also promotes a higher level of breathability and moisture management without the detriment of compromising its strong layer of warming insulation. Additionally, the gloves feature an exterior membrane that lessens the intrusion of both wind and water. So, you'll be ready for whatever Old Man Winter has in store for you. For further protection, the 3.0 gloves feature a Clarino synthetic leather palm. Compared to genuine leather, this material increases durability and finger dexterity. In fact, this is the same material that's commonly found in the gloves of American law enforcement. For grip, Castelli has lined the palm and fingers with a silicone print. Now, gripping the hoods and performing effective shifts is a simplified affair in wet conditions. In terms of fit, Castelli has cut the gloves a tad oversized compared to its traditional second-skin fit. The logic behind this is simple -- it allows for an easy addition of Castelli liners. This extends the gloves current temperature range of between 32 and 46 degrees Fahren...Castelli CW.3.0 Gloves White/Red, M - Men's Review
I have tackled all aspects of riding in cold weather except my hands. My fingers are always unbearably cold (burning)! These gloves, with a liner are the best I have found so far, but I don't think they perform quite as well as advertised (20 degree temps). The coldest temps I ride in are in the low 30's, and my fingers are still cold. I don't know if there is a perfect solution...lately I've been putting hand warmers in the gloves as well, and that seems to help. I do like the dexterity of the gloves..shifting is not awkward as with some of the bulkier gloves I have tried. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Castelli CW.3.0 Gloves White/Red, M - Men's" are high quality item.
