I bought this shoe for my three year old son (size 8) to wear to hike in several national parks in Utah (Zion, Byrce, Arches, Canyonlands, etc). I bought these shoes because after a lot of research they were the only show in a size 8 that had good tread on them. They were a great shoe and looked cute expect for two things. 1) The shoe runs true to size. Go up a WHOLE size because kids grow fast. My son was able to wear these on our trip and than wasn't able to wear them ever again. Not being able to buy a 1/2 size sucks when your kid is exactly an 8. Also, 2) the laces broke during our trip. I was able to fix it by trying the ends together but I am still disappointed that I spent so much money just to have the laces break.

Overall, my son was able to hike about 25 miles in these and never complained that his feet were hurting.The shoes withstood walking but never rain or mud so I cannot say if they are good in that weather. The did have good tread though.These are not really a summer shoe but more of a fall shoe.
