I purchased this for my husband who has always been a big man. He typically can fit into a 2x shirt but prefers a 3x for comfort. We purchased the 3X in white, but while wearing it, decided that it didn't look good. When wet it became semi sheer and clung to all of the bad areas. We decided to order the next size up in black (the only color available). It wasn't any noticeably larger so we returned it an ordered a 5X. Even men don't want to have to order something that states that they are 2 sizes bigger than they really are! He enjoys wearing this for SPF coverage while boating, but also being able to jump in the water at will and not having to deal with a heavy, sagging wet T-shirt when he gets out.
