AimPoint Ruger Mark III Mount for Micro Sights - Silver 12463 Review

I bought this bracket to mount an Aimpoint R-1 sight onto a Ruger Mark III pistol. It arrived undamaged within the specified time. Although Ruger provides a Weaver/Picitinny mount with the Mark III, the Aimpoint mount is more mechanically secure, and has a slightly lower profile. The picture accompanying the product description actually shows the underside of the mount (the side that rests against the pistol). Seeing the top would show the machined recesses that mate with the bottom of the sight. To install the mount onto the sight,the Weaver-style mount screwed to the sight must be removed. For me, 3 of the 4 screws came out OK, but one of the socket screw's internals had been stripped during assembly, so I had to drill it out. Not the fault of this mount, but worth mentioning. After that, installation of the mount onto the sight (using hardware supplied with the mount) was quick and easy, as was installation of the sight and mount onto the pistol (again with supplied hardware). Thread-locking compound, like Locktite, is NOT included with the mount, and should be used. Overall, the mount is well made, well finished, pricey, but fulfills its intended purpose extremely well. I have no regrets, and am satisfied with this purchase.
