I had a canondale bike bag prior to this one that gave me good service over the past 6 years and I used it extensively on the bike trails in my area . The Topeak Bag is less expensive then the Canondale but not as tall as the model I had. On the plus side the Topeak Bag does have a slightly wider base that extends over the rear bike rack slightly making it easier to carry wider loads and both bags are about the same length. I also like the external zippers compartments for extra storage external to the bag making things easier to access like bike gloves, small snacks ( weather permitting ) or other items. The straps that secure the bag to the bike rack in addition to having the main two velcro straps underneath the bag also have a third set that secure to the rack closest to the bike seat making it a more stable mount that is less likely to shift the bag load than the Canondale. My cons for this bag are: I would like the two inches in height back on top and it does not come stock with a water proof outer bag to affix to the bag in the event of substained or a heavy rain. You can buy a seperate waterprooof over bag from the suppliers of Topeak products if you are like me and need that level of protection and it is not that much additional. Ironically, the Topeak Map Bag that I purchased from another vendor for the front of my bike does contain the waterproof over bag in the event of heavy rains with every purchase.
