I use these fins for ocean swimming and bodysurfing.... in the surf is where one finds out immediately how good these fins actually are.

I am on my third pair of Slashers, I swam and surfed with Viper's (junk, one pair ) Makapuu's (good) for 15 years before finding these perfectly engineered fins about 15 years ago.

Some people find them hard to get on, and the strap IS really thick. That said, this is a huge plus for keeping the fins on your feet in the ocean....These fins fit really snug, and feel utterly different from any other swim fin. The instep is rounded and eliminates the big pocket around the foot where so many other fins (Vipers, especially) allow water pressure to snatch the fin off your foot. Losing a fin on a big day is a bad deal....and losing both can mean your a**.

I've owned them all, literally, and, in my opinion, these are the best bodysurfing fins in the world, period.
